HIFU FAQs

  • Dr M treats all her patients personally, starting with the M-ethod™ Consultation to discuss your desired results and expectations.

    Once the treatment has been agreed, you will have some pre-treatment photographs taken. The treatment area will be cleansed and a special ultrasound gel will be applied, before the HIFU adaptor is placed on the targeted treatment area. Numbing cream is available but usually not required. Your treatment concludes with the application of sun protection.

    Following treatment, you will be offered a review appointment and receive aftercare instructions in your inbox.

  • The results of HIFU treatment are not instant but gradually improve over the following weeks as collagen production increases. Patients often notice tighter skin and a reduction in wrinkles within 2-3 months after the treatment. The full effects may continue to develop for up to 6 months.

  • HIFU is commonly used to treat the face and décolletage, but can be used anywhere in the body.

  • Yes, our HIFU treatment at the M-ethod™ can be used in combination with most other treatments, with the exception of certain energy-based treatments. In fact combination of treatments such as HIFU and microneedling has been proven to produce synergistic and exceptional results.

    That is why during the M-ethod™ Consultation, Dr M assesses you holistically and creates a bespoke aesthetic treatment plan tailored specifically for you.

  • The M-ethod™ uses the most advanced HIFU technology that is suitable for all skin types and tones. If you are suffering from a skin or health issue, taking certain medication or currently expecting, you may not be suitable for HIFU. Dr M will discuss your bespoke treatment plan with you during the M-ethod™ Consultation.

  • Yes, you will need a patch test 48 hours prior to the treatment.

  • We advise avoiding blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen (unless instructed by your doctor) 3 days before your treatment.

    We also recommend avoiding alcohol 24 hours before your treatment and coming in for your appointment without make-up (for face treatments), although a thorough cleanse will be performed prior to your treatment.
