Polynucleotides

Next-Generation Skin Repair & Rejuvenation

What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides, often referred to as PN, are biocompatible molecules composed of nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA and RNA. In dermatology and aesthetics, PN are utilized for their regenerative properties, promoting tissue repair, collagen synthesis, and overall skin rejuvenation. By harnessing the natural mechanisms of cellular regeneration, polynucleotides offer a safe and effective solution for improving skin texture, elasticity, and appearance.

What are the benefits?

Polynucleotides offer a range of benefits for skincare and aesthetics. These include promoting collagen synthesis, stimulating tissue repair, improving skin texture and elasticity, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, enhancing hydration and moisture retention, and overall rejuvenating the skin's appearance.

Additionally, polynucleotides are known for their biocompatibility and safety, making them suitable for a wide range of skin types and conditions. With regular use, polynucleotides can help achieve smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

Polynucleotides FAQs

  • Dr M treats all her patients personally, starting with the M-ethod™ Consultation to discuss your desired results and expectations.

Once the treatment has been agreed, you will have some pre-treatment photographs taken. The treatment area will be cleansed and marked with a pencil. The technique of administering polynucleotides involves placing small injections on the face, which is usually tolerated well without numbing (available on request).

Following treatment, you will be offered a review appointment and receive aftercare instructions in your inbox.

  • Results are visible from week-one, with the optimal effect visible one month after your treatment.

Repair and rejuvenation of the skin will be evident over the longer term (3-6 months) and benefits persist for months to years.

  • Contrary to popular belief, you can stop - but you most likely wouldn’t want to as the results are simply too great!

As the effects of polynucleotides wear off, your skin would gradually return to its pre-treatment state. Dr Mandy generally recommends repeated treatments every 6 months to continue the effects but this is variable depending on your skin condition and lifestyle.

  • Polynucleotides may be administered on the face, décolletage, hands and anywhere on the body that needs rejuvenation!

  • Polynucleotides work particularly well with other medical aesthetic treatments, such as botox. Combination therapy can help to refresh your complexion and give the perfect glow to your face, reducing signs of ageing.

That is why during the M-ethod™ Consultation, Dr M assesses you holistically and creates a bespoke aesthetic treatment plan tailored specifically for you.

  • No, polynucleotides are not the same as dermal fillers or skin boosters. While dermal fillers and skin boosters primarily focus on adding volume or hydration to specific areas of the skin, polynucleotides work at a cellular level to promote tissue repair, collagen synthesis, and overall skin rejuvenation. They offer a different approach to skincare, enhancing skin quality and texture rather than simply addressing volume or hydration concerns.

  • Many people, both men and women, are often found to be suitable for polynucleotides. The treatment is frequently requested by adults of all ages, ranging from those in their 30’s to those in their 60’s.

  • No, a patch test is not required.

  • We advise avoiding blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen (unless instructed by your doctor) 3 days before your treatment. We also recommend avoiding alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.

  • Ameela is a viscoelastic, sterile, non-pyrogenic, absorbable solution, based on polymerized polynucleotides. The polynucleotides used in Ameela are purified, making them free from other components, such as proteins, which can trigger an immune response. It is an innovative and effective way to restore skin firmness and elasticity, and ensure healthy skin that is protected against free radicals and cellular damage.

  • Plinest is designed to rejuvenate your skin from within. Polynucleotides are a type of DNA molecule that occurs naturally. PN in Plinest are sourced from the reproductive glands of trout fish and then meticulously purified using a patented Highly Purified Technology (HPT). This unique and natural origin of the active ingredient is what sets Plinest® apart from many other skincare solutions.
