What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Botulinum toxin A, or ‘Botox’, reduces the signs of ageing by smoothing out dynamic wrinkles, or facial lines on movement. This helps your skin appear more youthful.

How does it work?

Botulinum toxin A relaxes specific muscles under the skin, and has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1989 for the treatment of wrinkles. It has been used in medical treatments for over four decades.

Dr M treats all her patients personally, starting with the M-ethod™ Consultation to discuss your desired results and expectations.
Once the treatment has been agreed, you will have some pre-treatment photographs taken. The treatment area will be cleansed and marked with a pencil. The technique of administering Botulinum Toxin A involves placing 3-8 small injections per area.
Following treatment, you will be offered a review appointment and receive aftercare instructions in your inbox.
The effect of Botulinum Toxin A starts kicking in at around 3-7 days post treatment, with the maximum effect being most visible 14 days after treatment.
Contrary to popular belief, you can stop - but you most likely wouldn’t want to as the results are simply too great!
As the effects of Botulinum Toxin A wears off, your skin would gradually return to its pre-treatment state. Dr M usually recommends repeated treatments every 3-4 months to continue the effects. Patients also find that with repeated treatments the effects last longer, meaning less treatments are needed over time.
Botulinum Toxin A can be used to treat frown (or the ‘11’) lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, smoker’s lines, and neck bands. It can also be used for brow lift, gummy smile, lift the corners of the mouth, jaw slimming and treating excessive teeth grinding.
Yes! In fact combination of dermal fillers with Botulinum Toxin A has been proven to produce synergistic and exceptional results.

Botulinum Toxin A is a safe and effective treatment, however if you are taking certain medications or suffer from specific medical conditions it might not be suitable for you. Depending on your individual anatomy and muscle strengths, some people may require a higher dose than others. The suitability of treatment will be discussed with you during the M-ethod™ Consultation.
No, a patch test is not required.
We advise avoiding blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen (unless instructed by your doctor) 3 days before your treatment. We also recommend avoiding alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
